One of the things I’ve learned in 6 months of Lotus Europa ownership is that the pedals are really close together. Of course this is well known and fortunately I wear size 9 1/2 shoes. All shoes are different however. My sandals are too wide and tend to catch at very inopportune moments. Fortunately I don’t wear dress shoes often as my dress shoes are wide, just like my feet.
What has worked for me is a pair of size 9 runners that fit a little tight. Still, a pair of decent driving shoes would be an excellent addition to Lotus ownership. I’ve mentioned to my wife that Sparco, Simpson and others make nice driving shoes and Christmas will be here eventually… hint, hint.
In the meantime, I was at Walmart the other day and found these tight fitting slip on shoes that have a reasonably hard and flat sole. They won’t last forever but are very comfy and work well. The best part? They were less than $10 Canadian Pesos.
Oh yeah, the red in the photo is blood… one of those days!
